Golfer says Kaulig execs excited over Senior Players deal

Throughout David Frost’s pro-am pairing at Firestone Country Club in 2019, a friendship took root.

The working day just before the inaugural Bridgestone Senior Players Championship at the legendary Akron system, Frost played with Matt Kaulig and Tim Clepper, best executives at Kaulig Corporations. Kaulig, a former College of Akron quarterback, is the founder and govt chairman, Kent State graduate Clepper its president and CEO.

Frost had no idea that their organization would grow to be title sponsors of the Senior Players, signing a four-year offer that commences in 2023 and will retain the function at Firestone through 2026. All Frost understood then was that the three’s personalities clicked.

“They had a seriously great time that initially day we performed with each other. They experienced never played in a pro-am together, so I guess I did a very good occupation,” Frost reported Thursday. “We just strike it off and we’ve been friends at any time given that.”

Not only did they turn into standing pro-am companions, but Frost invited Kaulig and Clepper to his 60th birthday bash in Florida in September 2019, which Clepper attended.

In 2020, Frost, Kaulig, and Clepper have been lucky to get in one of the very last rounds at Augusta Nationwide Golf Club prior to the COVID-19 shutdown.

“COVID begun on the 14th of March and we in fact played there on the 12th of March,” Frost said. “A pal of mine is a member there and I asked him if he was prepared to host them, and that worked out as effectively. Every thing has labored out very well.”

As Kaulig, a Cincinnati native, and Clepper, born and elevated in Hudson, put together to take above as title sponsors, they can use Frost as a sounding board. Frost has six Champions Tour victories to his credit history and 10 wins on the PGA Tour, which include the NEC World Collection of Golfing in 1989, when he conquer Ben Crenshaw in a two-hole playoff. Frost, from South Africa, has been competing at Firestone considering the fact that 1983.
