Cowbit speaker, coach and author Taz Thornton shortlisted for Female Entrepreneur of the Year

Inspirational business speaker, coach and author Taz Thornton has been shortlisted for the title of Female Entrepreneur of the Year in the Great British Business and Community Awards.

The Award is open to any female in the UK who has either started their own business, played a significant role within an organisation or has either a business directorship or leadership role.

The judges wanted to know how the nominee has adapted, diversified, contributed to the community and survived during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“I’m thrilled to be shortlisted in such amazing company,” Taz said. “It’s hugely rewarding to be considered for this award and I believe we’re already winners!”

Last year, on International Women’s Day, Taz held a free online event explaining to her audience of 200 women that challenges and changes – especially during the pandemic – are not always bad things. “Sometimes you have to do something bold to change your life, find happiness and purpose in your life.”

In addition, because it’s been a tough time for many, Taz has been supporting smaller businesses, sole traders and those needing better cashflow, with subsidised, budget coaching.

Taz crowned UK’s best female business coach

Taz, who lives in Cowbit, has already won several top business awards and has been named in the special edition of World’s Leaders international magazine as ‘one of the world’s 10 most influential business leaders’.

The magazine singled out Taz as one of 10 executives who are “leading their organisations to success with their exemplary leadership methods, have made a significant mark on their industry and are showing potential to transform the future”.

Taz’s unconventional, straight-talking style has won her legions of fans in business and it’s her willingness to embrace vulnerability that caught the eye of the editors at World’s Leaders.

As well as being a coach, author and personal empowerment specialist, Taz has regularly appeared in the national press and on TV, given several TEDx talks, addressed many large online events and was also crowned UK’s best female coach in the Best Business Women Awards 2018 and was a finalist in the Best Business Women Awards 2019 for the most inspiring business woman.

This year, there were over 1,600 nominations and the standard of entrants was so high that a record-breaking number were shortlisted for the awards across all the award categories.

Jackie Chappell, the first female CEO of British Rail and a renowned entrepreneur, was part of the judging panel, and said: “Judging this year’s awards was tough. Every entry was of a very high standard and each one was unique, which made the decision harder.

“I’m very proud of the quality of businesses that we have in this region and these awards give them the true recognition that they deserve.”

Shortlisted nominees will discover who the worthy winners are at the Great British and Community Awards presentation on Thursday, April 7 from 4pm-9pm at The Hilton, Reading.
