Vermont Business Magazine CATIC, a regional title insurance company, announced six, $10,000 gifts to affordable housing nonprofits serving every region of the State of Vermont.
“We are in the business of insuring real estate purchases in Vermont, so we know how hard it is in this market to find affordable housing. Knowing the commitment to housing issues these regional housing organizations bring to their local communities, we make these donations on behalf of the Vermont real estate attorneys with whom we partner,” said Andy Mikell, State Manager of CATIC’s Vermont office. “We hope these gifts will have a positive impact on Vermont families who might otherwise find home ownership, or issues associated with home ownership, just out of reach.”
The six organizations include:
- Champlain Housing Trust
- Downstreet Housing and Community Development
- Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity, Franklin/Grand Isle
- NeighborWorks of Western Vermont
- RuralEdge
- Windham and Windsor Housing Trust
Vermont’s housing market is in crisis. Homeownership costs have gone up by nearly 20% since the start of the pandemic, and thousands of Vermonters have been sheltered in motels. The six organizations receiving these funds have been on the front line of addressing the housing needs of Vermonters and will use the donations to further their missions.
