SpiceJet to offer Covid-19 insurance cover for passengers

Airline major SpiceJet has facilitated insurance cover for Covid-19 hospitalisation which can be availed by its passengers.

SpiceJet has joined hands with Go Digit General Insurance Limited to offer this insurance cover that will further boost the confidence and morale of passengers.

Passengers can opt for the insurance cover ranging between Rs 50,000 to Rs 300,000 at a premium of Rs 443 to Rs 1564 a year. The insurance covers hospital expenses and all pre and post hospitalisation expenses for 30 and 60 days respectively. The comprehensive cover includes tests, medication and consultations upon testing positive for COVID-19.

The company said in a statement that the policy will be valid for a period of one year from the date of issuance and covers all types of hospitals including private, military, government etc. and ensures a zero-touch process to avail the claim.

The aviation industry is one of the worst hit sectors by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, India saw nearly 23,000 new cases of the novel coronavirus and 482 deaths. The overall case count in India has now crossed the 7.4-lakh mark.

The overall coronavirus tally of India includes 2,64,944 active cases, while 4,56,831 have recovered, as per latest data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
