Domestic markets opened positive on Tuesday after an extended weekend on account of improving global cues and a jump in banking stocks.

At around 9:30 am, Sensex was trading 263.95 points higher at 30,936.54, while Nifty was trading just over 9,100 points after rising almost 1 per cent in morning trade. By 9:40 am, Sensex was trading higher by over 330 points.

Some of the top gainers in the opening session were IndusInd Bank, JSWSteel, Titan, ITC, HDFC Bank and Tata Steel.

Other the other hand, some of the top laggards were Bharti Airtel, TCS, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Finserv, Kotak Bank and Infosys.

It may be noted that all Nifty sectoral indexes were in the green in early trade with Nifty Bank and Nifty Metal leading the rally.

It seems that some of the eased rules under lockdown 4.0 have cheered markets, despite the uncertainty stemming from the daily rise in cases in India.

Globally, share markets performed well as investors looked past US-China tensions and focused on re-opening the world economy. Asian markets also edged ahead in view of the development.
